anyone here installed a set of rear airbags (i have an 04 hurricane 30Q)

i was wondering if anyone has installed airbags, and preferably someone who tows a car in a trailer. looking for some feedback.

i would like to install it myself (if possible).

if anyone has any pictures and could post them it would be greatly appreciated.

i read the feedback from one of the other members, and would love to hear what others who have modified their rigs have to say about them.

tia!

I have them on my 1999 Brave. They made a big difference. I got them mainly to help level the right side which is heavier than the left side. Worked well for that and helped a lot on leans at slow speed. After putting them on the rear with good results, also put them on the front. Easy to install, just one hole to drill on each side for the front air bags. I used AirLift bags.

John,
After you installed them, while traveling did you notice any difference in the jolts through the springs from ruff sections of highway, or did the air bags cushion the jolts & help smooth the ride.
Thanks, Neil

I fitted Firestone air bags to our FW Encounter and, to tell you the truth, did not get any sense of improved ride. The cabinets in the rig rattled and squeaked just as much! I did sense that we were not affected as much by cross winds though so, in that respect, there was some benefit.

The rig was unexpectedly traded for a new Bounder at the FW rally in Goshen ( beware, these rallies can be quite wealth depleting! ) and I have no plans to repeat the exercise as the Bounder rides much better than the Encounter ever did.

No it didn't improve the ride at all. If anything, depending on how much air you put in, it could make the ride stiffer.

I installed rear air bags on a 02 F53 chassis (15K I think?). I did this after reading about improving the ride. The motor home had come with front air bags but they were not aired up. After reading about adding bags to help improve the ride, I inflated the front bags and noticed an improvement. So I added the rears air bags and got an improvement there as well - bumps were not so harsh and the bags helped with leaning.

I am adding air bags to my 05 22K chassis front and rear this weekend and hope to duplicate the improvements.

Installing these kits is pretty straightforward and can be done in a couple hours with basic tools. You can learn more info about our kits here: Air Spring Overview. Thanks!

GOT A QUICK QUESTION,

what is lug nut torque on the wheels.

and secondly, for those who have installed bags, did you guys place the jack stands behind the rear wheels, or in front of them. (trivial i know)

When fitting air bags, you don't need to remove wheels nor jack up the frame.

Well, I would love to hear from someone who has installed the 57410 air Lift kit on a 2004 hurricane. The body mount is right in front of the sway bar end link mount. This is where the front of the upper bracket is supposed bolt onto the frame. Of course I had to buy a flipping RV that I can't install air bags on.

My next post will read, "does anyone make an air bag kit for an 2004 Four Winds Hurricane 30 Q ? "

I pm'ed randy and spent a bunch of time on the phone today, received and spent pictures.

This shouldn't be that hard. Lmao!!! I am glad I didn't order front air bags from air lift.

If the brackets are the same as the Ride-rite kit, ( which I have installed ), you will have a tough time with the duallies still on.
