Banks Stinger system with 5 star tuning

I was getting ready to order a 5 star tune when I notice the also bundle their tune with Banks Stinger system. Anyone here did install the banks stinger system on their motorhome?

Is it worth it the extra 1000$?

We've installed dozens and dozens of these systems at our shop. Our customers are thrilled with the result! That being said, you can always add the remainder of our "stinger" system if you decide you want more power than what our tune offers. Hopefully some others can chime in with their experience!

We had the full power Banks system installed on our coach Nov 2005. Then in June 2011 had the 5 Star 87 Tune PCM upgrade. After the 5 Star tune, we noticed a more significant increase in power than we did after installation of the Banks system.

The folks at 5 Star were very helpful providing me assistance with installing the Tune.

Highly recommend the Tune and I would also recommend installation of exhaust headers along with a high performance exhaust system to include a a low restriction cat & muffler with a minimum 3.5" exhaust & tail pipe.

Best of luck & safe travels

Thanks for the replies. If I am not mistaking, the stinger system offer a different air filter box (not sure if you can call this a cold air intake) and a larger cat back exhaust.

I've tried to gather some information on Banks web site but not much there. Since I will most likely have to install it myself (no Banks authorized dealer up north in my neck of the woods) it has to be pretty much a bolt on project.

I have a 2008 ford F-150 that I put the stinger system on. I wanted more power to tow my travel trailer (I've since sold the trailer and moved up to a National Sea Breeze with the Ford V-10).
The System did offer more power, but IMO the noise just wasn't worth the power increase. For that reason I'm not going to do it on the Motorhome. Again, no doubt about the power increase, but be prepared for some noise.
Just something to consider. Good luck

Thanks Marcjay! That's what I wanted to know and I will stay with just the 5 star upgrade. Last thing I want is to travel 500 miles a day with some major sound

Great feedback on the both our tune and the Banks system! Helping these vehicles breathe greatly boosts their towing ability.

If you decide to go this route, I do believe we can get some installation documents and videos from Banks. Anything helps over the smaller black and white install instructions that come in most boxes.

Thank you for great feedback on the stinger products for your F150! Something to consider if you still use your truck to tow on occasion would be a Corsa or Gibson muffler for it. They both greatly cut down the excess noise and drone that really present themselves under towing conditions.

Has anyone installed the full Banks PowerPack system (with AutoMind/OttoMind) and then flashed the ECU with 5 Star?

I have an '06 F53 (1st year with the 30-valve motor), with the old Ottomind ECU tuning (Banks tells me the tunes hasn't changed with the new Automind product) and was wondering if 5 Star Tuning would make a noticeable difference Banks says 5 Star offers more transmission tuning). RV is new to me and came with the Banks so I don't know before and after (rig is light, weighing in at under 14,000 with me, some fuel and a little water in it).
