I will let tderonne reply about the single cat / "y" pipe setup. I have been unable to confirm. However, the parts listings I have checked only show one downstream O2 sensor and only one cat. Based on parts, it looks like you have 2 upstream O2 sensors and just one downstream.

I think your plan above is on the right track. The OEM sensor is made by Bosch. If a Bosch sensor is priced lower, you would get the same for less.

Right. One downstream sensor, in/after the catalyst. Not extremely familiar with the newer F53's that have downstream sensor - mine doesn't. But there's definitely just one catalyst assembly. Might have multiple bricks in one can, but it's a single inlet/outlet setup.

Not that I can identify. No sound of any. Are there any other methods to determine exhaust leaks?
