Class A F-53 Brake Service

Just wondering how long folks are getting out of their brake pads on the F53 Chassis? Mine is at 44,000 miles and still going.

My 2000 winnebago adventurer 37g had 48000 miles on it when I bought it. The brakes would not pass certification and I had to replace the pads. So my guess is around 50000. Dont know if the previous owner was brake happy or not.

30 foot 1999 Fleetwood Flair I bought used I replaced the pads because I was too lazy to see if they needed to be replaced. About 75% left. I suppose it depends on driving behavior.

Brake pads

My Hurricane 30Q was at 32000 miles when we got it. It now has 58000 and pads look good. Don't know if previous owner put new on it.

2006 18K lbs. chassis with 60,000 miles. Pads all around are at about 50% wear.

Total replacement of pads and calipers in 2015. 1998 Pace Arrow F53 chassis. The pads were still good after 17 years and 60,000 miles, but the calipers were starting to stick. Normal temp on rotors were 165 or so. Sticking calipers 305 degrees and higher.

What is the rough cost to get a brake job done on these F53 chassis?

My Rig had 48K when I bought it, during the new tire install checked front and rear brakes over 50%. She has 72K and is due for another oil change.
Next month will be visiting Colonial Ford in Chesapeake VA. Need to have the inside duels valve stems replaced, will have the brakes inspected again. I did have a ford truck mech tell me a while back, this solely depends on the driver, 40K - 120K for brake pad life. And normally anywhere in-between.

I do go easy on the brakes hope to get 60 to 70K out of the pads. My understanding is that it's important to lube the calipers when you get the brakes inspected to help prevent sticking too...

We had about 76,000 miles on our 2001 motorhome when I changed the pads. That was back in 2009. At the time the top of the line NAPA brake pads were about $70.00 per axle. The front and rear pads were the same are were the calipers. In our case the calipers were fine so they didn't need to be replaced.

Unlike most cars that have the front brakes do 70% of the stopping the F53 chassis is 50% front and 50% rear. Given the rear axle carries nearly double the weight of the front the rear pads tend to wear out first. At 76,000 miles our rear pads were paper thin. The fronts still had over half the material remaining.

We got about 45K on them before they failed inspection (in Mass inspectors actually look at the brake pads).
