Cruise control help

My 03 Damon Challenger cruise control has quit. The fuse in the under-dash box is good and has power on both sides of it. That puts me at the end of my diagnostic trail for CC. Anyone have insight on where to turn next? Thanks!

Just a suggestion is there a / does it use vacuum? Maybe you have a leak? Again just a suggestion I am not that knowledgeable on cruise control.

Not an expert here either, but the brakes cancel it, so does it use the same switch? Are the brake lights on all the time?

A good question, I'll check it out. I think the brake lights work even with the key off, and I would have long ago noticed, or at least killed the battery, but maybe I'm wrong. I'll check it out, thanks!

There is a pressure switch that has fuses in the harness out on or near the master cylinder.

The switchs short out and blows 1 of 2, 2 amp fuses.

Look up CCS1 in many auto parts sites.Click image for larger version

Mine has been acting up recently as well. It seems to have something to do with the harness that was placed for the recall resolution. I think that the connection is loose at the plug. I'm gonna try to reconnect it and firm it up on my next "exercise drive" next week. Give that a try.

My cruise was intermittent last summer. Also would disengage by itself. My pressure switch was bad. Brake lights work normal. different circuit. You can test if it is that switch by unplugging the connector at the switch and use a jumper wire across the 2 leads and road test. If that fixes it, replace the switch. Its located in the brake line below the master cyl against the firewall.

I lost my CC last year. After testing the the switches on the master cylinder and the brake pedal i was at a loss. THEN i noticed my horn wasnt working, ah ha a clue. It was the clock spring under the steering wheel.

I went to my local Ford dealer and got at a discounted price when i mentioned i could order it from another Ford dealer online.

My CC now works.

Our 08 Outlaw CC quit working a couple years back.. We went thru all the switches and fuses and couldn't find anything.. Then the horn quit too... Yep, turns out it was the clock spring in the steering wheel.. Pretty easy fix.. Been working fine ever since..

Thank you all for the input. Level of life-complication jumped drastically in last 2 weeks, and I am just now checking back here. I will investigate and report. Again, thank you.

OK, did you actually pull the fuse out and check it with a multimeter? Also what exactly do you mean be having power on both sides of it?

Most ATC fuses have a spot on top that is connected to each blade.
You can test both sides for voltage. If you see volts on both sides, the fuse is likely good.Click image for larger version

The fuse would still have to be installed to see power on both sides. Just shows 12v is going thru the fuse= good fuse. 12v only on 1 side=bad fuse
