Cruise control stopped working

OK, so I don't use my cruise control a lot but on a long stretch without a lot of heavy traffic I will engage it and Cruise. On our last trip I used it a good bit on the way down but on the way back it would not engage. this is on a F53 Ford chassis. Anyone had this problem please advise where I should start my troubleshooting.

Thanks

I've heard several times that may be due to the speed sensor located on (in) the rear axle going bad.

It's a common problem - lots of information out there about that problem:

Cruise control cancel switch, out on or near the master cylinder. May ba a pair of 2 amp fuses out there too. If blown, change switch.

They leak and short out. $25 at most Autoparts stores.
Change it fast and no bleeding needed.

This was the issue on my '07 F53. I was able to trouble shoot and confirm this as the problem by disconnecting the electrical plug at the switch (sensor) and using a piece of wire to jump the 2 leads in the plug. Mine is located a few inches below the brake MC against the firewall.
