Doghouse gasket

I am trying to replace my engine cover gasket. F53 V10 d.h.
Do I have to use exact duplicate, or, can I use any 'flat type' gasket? As you can see the bottom side is tappered. As such it doesn't "balance" itself on the metal (rusty) framing. If I must duplicate where can I find one. Thank you.

I wiould use whatever I could find that would work. Should be lots of options at an autoparts store in the way of door gaskets.

Try "Steele Rubber" company.
They have all sorts of extruded shapes, primarily for antique and classic cars.
Door and trunk moldings for sure.
If you can't find it in their catalog, you could cut a small piece off the end and send it to them. They can match the cross section.
