F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

Some say its 6 quarts some say its 7 quarts but when I do my oil change it takes 6.5 to 6.75 quarts with filter change.

Manual says 6 quarts.

How many quarts does yours take.

2008 Bounder.

The V-10 in my Class C/E450 takes 6 quarts. Not sure if a V-10 in an F53 is the same or not.

Your going to get a bunch of 6 and 7 quart answers. This question has been asked many times before and there doesn't seem to be a correct answer.

I fill mine until it reads full on the dipstick.

I do believe it changed and could be either. My '17 model takes 7 quarts to fill to the top line.

FWIW, I've had a number of vehicles that took more to fill to the top line than the manual said.

I also fill mine to the full mark on the dipstick. It takes 6 and 1/2 quarts to do that. It is a 2013 F-53 chassis and has 98,000 miles on it. I use Mobil 1 and the engine uses no oil between changes.

When I change my oil and filter, I put in 8 qts. I overfill by 1 qt as my 1999 V10 burns about 1 qt every 1200-1500 miles..

That may be due to overfilling it.

Does it burn 2 quarts at 3000 miles ?

Have you replaced your PVC valve ?

My 2000 V10 started using OIL. I replaced the PVC valve and it stopped.

6.6 liters with filter replacement which is almost exactly 7 quarts.

Everything I'm finding shows the E series to have a 6 quart capacity and the F series -- F450 and F53 -- to have 7 quart.

I know I remember using 6 in my Class C. The first time I changed oil in our Class A I put 6 quarts in it because I was sure it would be the same, and it was a quart low.

Ah, finally remembered I had PDF Owners manuals on both my Class C and A.

I've attempted to attach the PDFs, but the E-450 manual is just a bit too large.

Anyway, on page 129 of the 2017-Ford-Motorhome-Owners-Manual (F53) it shows a 7-quart capacity. On page 244 of the 2015-E-Series-Owners-Manual (Class C) it shows a 6-quart capacity.

If anyone really cares, private message me, and I'll email them to you.

In post #9 I was answering for the Ford F53 chassis version of the V10. I assumed the OP who signed 2008 Bounder was asking for a Ford F53. Yes, different implementations of the V10 besides the F53 use different quantities of oil. Don't just go by IRV2 use your owner's manual ! ! !

Yes.. First couple times I noticed it, I had to add two quarts after about 2500 miles to bring it up to full on the stick. I started watching it carefully and after about 1200-1500 miles, I needed to add a quart.

I since overfill it by a quart when I know I'll be traveling. On a positive note, I don't worry about religiously changing oil at 5k miles. If I run over by 1 or 2k, not a big deal.

NOTE - This is the first time in a long, long time that I had a vehicle that actually burned oil.

08 Fleetwood Terra.... 20500 chassis

7 qts, with filter...... How can there be discrepancies?

I would assume ford would not have used different pans or coolers on the F53
