Well, thanks guys, you answered a question I was about to ask.
My parking brake, the tin shield between the drum & case housing is a little wet as well as the rear part of the case, so I guess the case must be over full & leaking just a bit.

I've changed the trans fluid several times & I might be getting it a bit over full according to the dip stick, so I guess i've created my own problem.
When I seen the wetness on that case, all I could think about was those that have had to rebuild theirs & the time they had to put in to do it.

So, I guess I'll pull the check plug & let it level itself out.
Thanks, Neil

Is there also a drain plug somewhere? So, one could change out the old fluid for fresh?

Was under mine the other day & looked it over pretty good, all I seen was the check plug on the side & then the vent type thing on top of the case.
Maybe one of the lower mounting bolts could be a drain, I dont know.

Will be out in your state in a couple weeks Rider, big city of Muskogee OK, Hatbox air field for an ATV race.

I'm about an hour west of Muskogee.

Ok.
Ol racing friend of mine lives up at Coweta & I got family down at Howe, so I feel like I'm going home when going out that way.

Hi Pirate, do you have a link to an online version of your manual that refers to maintaining this? I don't have a service manual from the PO and a friend who also owns a F53 chassis class A had this unit fail due to no oil in it. The bearings ate themselves up which blew apart the casing on the end of the tranny, took out the ABS and dropped the drive shaft to the road (which bent). A $9K disaster.

I want to make sure I service it on whatever the service manual prescribes as the scheduled maintenance.

Thanks in advance.

No, I don't have a copy of the manual. I would check it once per year before the season starts. It only takes a few minutes.
