F53 shock applications

I've been thinking about shocks lately. The Konis sound very good. But got to thinking a little.

Back in '04, I believe there was one Bilstein shock for all F53's, of all GVWR. Folks talk about the newer ones riding better. Only difference I have ever heard about that would make any change is that the newer F53's have application specific shocks. I think I read there's three shocks, 16/18K, 20/22K, and 24/26K.

Can anyone confirm this? I don't have access to any Ford systems these days. James?

Wondering if an new OEM shock, designed for my GVWR, might be a good option. Probably cost what the Konis do, or more, but I'm not sure I believe the Konis are THAT good (and they aren't GVWR specific).

Hi Tim, Here's a link to specs on the 2014 F53 stripped chassis, perhaps it may have some information on shocks, but not sure:

2014 Ford Stripped Chassis F-53 Class A Motorhome | See All The Stripped Chassis F-53 Class A Motorhome Highlights | Ford.com

We have the FSD's on the front suspension of our coach which greatly improved ride quality. I understand that Bilstein now has a shock called Comfort Shock that's comprable to the Koni FSD's and at a lower cost.

Good luck & safe travels
