Fluid on rear tires. Oh no!

1000 miles from home on Labor Day and I notice fluid on my rear tires. No way I was getting this fixed on a holiday. First I thought brake line, but fluid level was fine. Then I smelled it and definitely was diff fluid. Looked over and saw other wheel also had fluid on it. I thought it was strange to blow bearing/seal on BOTH wheels.

Looked for vent line on diff and the hose had a V style fitting on the end. I pulled it off and it sounded like an air compressor releasing pressure. Sure enough the V connector was completely plugged. I figure this happened on my last trip as I drove 4 days through rain. When I got back out west in the dry climate all that grime that was sucked in dried up and plugged fitting. 1000 miles home and no more leak 🥳

I recommend adding this as a check next time you service your RV. I can’t image what a shop would have charged me.

Did you change out diff oil? I have seen this and spiders nests do this..

Or at least check the diff fluid level.

Yes.. I always check diff .. if I run through water.. you be surprised how many fail because of water in diff.. and re torque the axle bolts.. they can work loose.. but that is just me..

Good catch! Maybe you can add some tubing and route it into a compartment for protection from insect plugs. Here in SC we have something that seals up keyholes with something similar to cosmoline.
