Ford engines??

of those of you here that have had a motorhome with a ford v10 and now have a ford V8 (new engin) could you tellme how the two reallly compair on the road, Noise, power, torque, Fuel mileage, ect. I am wonder in as we are looking around at new units and there are some v10's and V8's and is it worth the extra money to go for the newer v8.
I know drivers drive differantly and all that just a comparison of your thoughts as your driving probaly did not change with the change in engine.

To me, the biggest advantage of the newer chassis is the transmission. The select shift feature allows manual gear selection instead of working the go pedal and the brake to try and get the gear you want.

The only way you could have a fair comparison is if you had two identical make and model motorhomes loaded to the same weight with each engine. Different coach builders vary in how well the engine box is insulated, therefore, different noise levels. The same driver would have to drive each motorhome over the same course for the same number of miles to guarantee consistent driving technique. Even after all that, there will be an up to 10 percent difference in data for hundreds of reasons.

Well this is my comparison :

1st off not a exact comparison, I sold my 2008 33 foot class A with the V-10, 5 speed trans, with banks power pack system and 5 star tuning on motor. [19,500 lbs]

Bought a new 2021 class B+ 25 foot with the new 7.3 V-8, 6 speed trans, premium HP/Torque motor. [10,000 lbs]

I was towing my 4000 lb Tacoma behind the new class B+ and the motor stayed in 6th gear 90 percent of the time from Salt Lake city to Las Vegas, the motor was much quieter, less RPM's, never went below 4th gear, in fact it only went to 4th gear once the whole trip and it used only 3/4 of a 55 gal gas tank from Salt Lake to Las Vegas towing 4000 lbs..
[ estimate 9.5 mpg ] [ maybe 10 to 11 mpg not towing ?]

I will have to say from this perspective I really like the new 7.3 V-8 with the 6 speed transmission..

Oh and down sizing is now cool, I can travel more places easier and cheaper..

2021 BT Cruiser 5240, Murphy Bed.

Thanks to all those who have answered and I will be looking forward to more comments in the the next few days. Sounds like the V8 may be worth it when and if we change this year.
