Hicksie, Two of mine broke one night in a cold rain driving down the Interstate. My cost was $2,000 to get them fixed. The local Ford dealership could not fix themselves so a welder was brought in to remove the old ones. Ouch!
3000 does sound expensive and was however an exhaust manifold leak will eventually damage the engine head to the point where it needs to be replaced. That would be considerably more as well as ruin a potentially good vacation or trip.
