Fuel pressure gauge install- help

Hopefully someone out there has run into this problem (not really a problem if you have the right part) I am connecting an electric fuel pressure gauge from fuel rail to gauge, mounted in dash. The problem I have encountered is connecting to the male Schroeder valve on fuel rail on a 1994 Ford 460. The fuel rail Schroeder valve (male) and the electric sender unit is also male. I'm trying to find an adapter to connect the two. I contacted auto gauge and they sent me the adapter they insist is the one I need. The adapter they sent me is a male to female and obviously doesn't work.

What they sent you is what will hook to all fuel rails except Fords. Even if you use a fuel pressure tester you have to use an adapter to hook to the Ford rail test point. You should be able to use one of the fuel pressure tester adapters to hook the what they sent you to the fuel rail.
I have had auto part stores order the Ford adapter for me so I know they can.

I'll tried to use the tester adapter that fits rail but the adapter they sent me won't fit to the test adapter. Maybe I missing something. I'll check again and see what will fit between test adapter and sender.

It should but it is the same one that comes with the fuel pressure tester so I do not think it will fit the threads of the part that they sent you.

As I recall now some said they had to remove the Schroeder valve off the fuel rail when they installed it.

That is what this clip from the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS is saying:
For fuel pressure gauge, install the 18” NPT pressure sender into the fuel system (See caution below). For Ford fuel injected applications with a Schrader valve in the fuel rail, use adapter 3280 between the fuel rail and pressure sender.]
If unit is to be installed on a high vibration application such as a full race engine or engine capable of high RPM, it is strongly recommended that the sender be remote mounted to either the fenderwell or firewall, to insulate from vibration. Failure to remote-locate pressure senders on such an application could result in gauge failure and potential damage to vehicle and/or operator injury. Braided stainless steel lines are sold separately by Auto Meter, and can be used to accomplish this.

The 3280 is the one I think you need:

No, sorry. I just re-opened the link and the only review said he couldn't make any of those parts fit the Schrader valve on his Taurus...assuming it's the same for our 460's.

You'd need to pull the Schrader valve and use the other adapter to go directly into the threads on the rail, then to your gauge.

Any update?
Did you remove the Schroeder valve and use the adapter that they sent you?
Is it working now?

Schroeder valve

The Schroeder valve on the fuel rail is one piece. I don't see a way to remove it. The valve stem is welded to rail as one piece. don't see how to get it off without destroying it. I could be wrong. Could you look at yours? I've got a picture of it but cant find it to get it uploaded from iphone.

Valve picture

Here a picture of the valve, I don't know if or how to remove it without damaging it. Would rather get some kind of adapter. Click image for larger version

Maybe I'll try to put a pair of vice grip on collar below threads. It a slippery slope.

I see what you are talking about. Before I just looked at two fuel rails I have off engines and the valve just screwed out. I made a bad assumption that all Ford fuel rails were made that way and I was wrong. Sorry about that.

I am going to install one on mine but I going to put the sensor down on the frame rail after the filter and before the fuel rail as in the photo below. I do not know if this would be how you can do it or not. But I already have hoses and a place for it from another fuel pump mode.

Do not try to turn that or you will just mess it up.

If I can't figure an adapter for valve, maybe I can put sender inline like your going to do. I've got steel braided lines with Ford connectors. So, I just have to figure how to get fittings for the project. Do you have a part # for the part in your picture?
