HELP leveling jacks won,t come up ?

Hi I bought a 2000 Coachmen Miranda 34' with a sixteen foot slide a week ago. The very nice couple I bought it from just purchased a 37' with three slides. They never used the leveling system I tried it they go down, level great but only one comes up the other three release I can move them with a pry bar but they won,t go up. Any ideas ? Its a HWH manual joystick with straight jacks. THANKS.

Two things come to mind. First extend the jacks and spray the shafts with silicone spray then wipe them clean and spray again then try to retract the jacks. If that does not work if these are hydraulic jacks it is possible some one overfilled the reservoir and you need to open the fill hole while retracting the jacks to allow some of the fluid to drain. Of course you would want to put a pan under the reservoir.

Also, might be time to change the ATF fluid. Mine takes two gallons.

I assume they are spring loaded?

You might try just placing blocks under them, and operate them, letting the weight of the rig push the fluid.

I do not know that much abut HWH but on my Power Gear hydraulics the answer is in the owner's manual.. I recommend you go to the web site and download yours.

What I think is that HWH sayw DO NOT lube jacks.. However the key word is THINK.. READ the manaul to be sure

power gear recommends lubrication and that fixed mine when they acted just exactly as yours are acting.

As to what to lube 'em with... Well, that's back to READ THE FINE MANUAL

Tugger welcome to irv2.
Here is the information you need for your jack system.
You will find more information within this Quick Tips Link jacks, controls & spring replacement.
If you have difficulty getting the jacks up use a 8 ton jack and with blocks lift up frame of coach place other blocks under jack in question, release the 8 ton jack and the blocks under jack will force it closed by weight of coach.
You may have to do a couple of time so jack alarm indicating jack not retracted does not sound.
If you do flush out your system some jacks will have drain plugs that will help with that effort.
Congrats on your MH many safe miles to come.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

tugger,
call HWH in Iowa. 563-724-3396. They are slow to get back to you but they will call you back. The tech's there are really great and they will be ablr to help you. I had a problem with the jacks on my former coach and they really helped bit they are usually busy and will call you back. I was at a seminar at a Winnebago rally and the HWH guy did say that they do not recommend using anything on the stainless steel jacks.
