Hydro Boost brake booster question

I accidentally left the key on engine not running for five hours. The brake booster was making the normal sound the entire time do you think I hurt anything? 2003 four winds gasser ford v10

I doubt it. Running down the road for 5 hours or sitting in place 5 hours is the same. You might have to charge/jump your batteries.

Running down the road, the power steering system is supplying the brake system boost and the backup, electric pump in not running.

Yup. Pic is from the 2002 Ford F53 Owners Manual is found here: https://www.fordservicecontent.com/F.../02motog1e.pdf

Apparently the older F53's worked a bit differently than later models. On our 2019 chassis the electric pump does NOT run when the ignition key is just turned on and the engine is not started. It only runs in that condition when the brake pedal is pressed.

We often test that feature since we're used to stepping on the brake before starting our cars.

Did the OP hurt anything? I doubt it's a continuous duty pump so it's possible. Since it's really an emergency backup system for the power brakes there's only one way to know for sure, trying to stop after the engine stalls...

I thought the electric boost came on with the brake pedal switch and no flow (engine off) regardless of ignition position.

Recently purchased a 2019 Open Road on a 2018 F53 24K chassis which I believe should have HydroMax Brake System . When I shut the engine off , no foot on brake pedal there is a distinct CLICKING sound from passenger side dash for a few seconds . Is that normal and is it the auxiliary electric brake pump ? Or something else ?

Hydromax doesn't use an electric pump, it uses an accumulator that stores pressure for limited brake applications.
All of clicks and buzzes are other things.

Is it possibly the HVAC system? Sometimes you'll get a funny slow ratchety noise similar to a clicking when there's a vacuum leak and the reservoir is leaking down, not specifically a F53, but vacuum HVAC controls are very similar.

Are you sure? I keep getting hydrmax and hydroboost mixed up.

Hydromax uses an electric motor to provide brake pressure when the engine (power steering pump) is off. That's the system my current rv and previous F53 chassis RVs had. There is no accumulator.

Hydroboost solely uses a PS pump

Hayman, mine also clicks for a couple minutes when shut off. Never thought enough about it to see where it was coming from. So Id say its a normal powering down cycle of some circuit.
