Kelderman 2-stage Air Suspension on F53 Chassis

Can anyone recommend an installer in Florida?

How about a rough estimate of the installation cost for Front and Rear Kelderman 2-stage Air Suspension respectfully?

Thanks

I have a quote of ~$8100 from the closet dealer to me in Oregon. Still trying to convince the CFO.

Kelderman told me to expect 10-12 hours on each end, depending on the shop.

I would start by asking Kelderman for their recommendation. Likely, their customers will have provided them with feedback on installers, both good and bad.

Front

Kelderman 2-Stage Air Suspension System Front will NOT be available on the 2020 F53 (V8) Chassis and beyond. My guess is that they didn't have a business case for the investment. Here is the response:

"Thank you for your interest in Kelderman. The 2-Stage Front Air Suspension that we offer for the F-53 Chassis is not compatible with the 2021 model year chassis. The kit is not compatible with the new 7.3 gas-engine. The springs are different for those years, as well as the routing of the exhaust interferes with our current kit, etc. We have had discussions on this, but we have not moved forward with the plans to re-design that kit in the last 2-3 years since the change to that 7.3 engine, so it's very unlikely that we develop something for this application."

You might contact "Josam Equipment" in Orlando Fl. (see link below)

They installed my "Liquid Spring" suspension, but specialize in truck frame work, springs, & suspension work. It's possible they are familiar with "air bag" suspension, as I saw several "DP" coaches there, being worked on.
An excellent company, all the work they did on my my installation was neat, clean, & very professional!

Good Luck!

I would be interested in a little more information on the Liquid Spring
Did you do 4-point or just rear suspension?
Do you have a gas motor home on a Ford F53 Chassis?
Did you drive it awhile on stock suspension?
Did it improve the ride on Interstate rough roads and expansion joint?
Thanks for the info

Hi,
YES, I did front & rear suspension! My opinion is the front is much more critical than the rear. That's why I waited. Rear only is a big improvement, but the front is what really makes the difference in ride.

YES, I have a Ford F-53 Gas chassis, which is a 26,000GVWR chassis!

YES, a bit of a story about that. I went to Napanee Indiana, to Newmar , and did a "factory Pick Up"! Part of the "delivery Process" is a test drive. So, in a totally stock configuration, I took it for a 160 mile test drive on the roads of Indiana. I had already made plans for suspension changes; and am glad I did. I had already purchased a set of Koni shocks, an Ultra-Trac rear track bar, & a Saf-T-Plus steering stabilizer. The local Ford Dealer in Bremen (a SUMO spring dealer) installed everything, along with front SUMO springs. They did this on Friday, prior to my leaving on Saturday morning for the drive back to Virginia. I must say, this was a huge improvement over "box stock". Almost no sway, no lean & roll, & much better/softer ride. I was very impressed with the difference! However, bridge transitions & expansion joints were still; bumpity bump, bangedy bang. Improved but far from gone!

Then along comes "Liquid Spring" suspension. Rear only, at first. I drove the Tiffin Demo, & was quite impressed. Much less banging on bridge transitions, and smoother overall. A year later, they introduce the front suspension. What a difference with BOTH. Yes, some bad bridge transitions still bumps, but overall a 90-100% improvement in ride and handling. Especially "RIDE"!
To me "Liquid Spring" suspension is worth every penny spent!

I just returned from a 6,500 mile trip from Florida, out West to Montana, Wyoming, N.Dakota, S.Dakota, & Wyoming. Then South through Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Miss., Arkansas, & Alabama, back to Florida! The coach rode and drove wonderfully, even in some of the "Winds", encountered in the Plains areas!

The ride quality is quite comfortable & smooth on most roads. A "bad" road is a "bad" road, no matter what suspension. It's an improvement on about 90% of "bridge transitions". Some are horrible, no matter what suspension. The ride is equal to, if not better than a "DP, with a solid front axle. Independent front suspension in a "DP" make a huge difference!

An expensive investment, "Yes"! Worth it, "Yes"! Do I enjoy driving the coach with Liquid Spring suspension? "YES"!! Would I do it again? Absolutely!!

Hope this helps answer your questions!

Good Luck! Good "RV'ing"! And Safe travels!

That is what my installer said also. Hope it is true this year. That would make it REAL attractive.

When Josam installed my liquid springs they told me that they had stopped doing the Kelderman installations.
