It means a lot when you spend a LARGE chunk of money and are trying to enjoy Limited Family time together. Instead your NEW MH spends months just sitting in a shop.

Link to high failure rate? I couldn't find it.
The sparkplug wire thing has been rectified.

Over 2 yrs and 20k miles misfire
I originally posted about this on this forum long ago. Now after over 2 years and 20,000 miles I have another cylinder 3 misfire. Back to the dealership once again. My 2020 F53 with the 7.3 has been in the ford shop more times than I can count for over 50 days. Im at my wits end with this engine. I don’t even know what to request the dealer do anymore. It seems like any trip I take when it’s very hot it burns the wire on cylinder 3.

You could ask them to add the air deflector from the mid-'21 revision. This directs air from the radiator fan directly at the passenger side header. See this post: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f23/ford...ml#post6190815

Ford replaced my 2020 7.3 with a new engine (long block), but only after the dealer got after them to resolve the problem or “like-for-like” the 1st engine. My truck was in the shop for 92 days. So far, I haven’t experienced any more major issues … with the new engine. But, I only just turned 40k on the truck and roughly 14,000 on the new engine. So, the jury is still out on this. Overall and based on my experience and those I’ve spoken with, it is clearly apparent quality is not - nor has it been - “job one” at Ford. It’s not as bad as has come to be the case with RV manufacturers, but it’s close.

The Ford dealer indeed replaced both heads and all lifters (tappets) plus all ignition wires. Has been running good since.

76,000 miles on my 7.3 Godzilla and very pleased with the engine. If I had anything to complain about engine/transmission wise it would be the downshift from 6 to 5 comes to late ascending a hill and causes the trans to downshift again to 4 and scream up the hill or mtn. If I downshift to 5 at the base of the climb more often then not I roar up the hill or mountain in 5th no problem.

I had a 2 for 15 years and a 3 for 5 years. Never a problem with either.

Well might know more in another 5 years just how good or bad the 7.3 V8 is.
So far the 2nd year and 3rd year engines (like my 2022).... most don't even have anywhere close to10,000 miles on them.
The handful of complaints (compared to the number in service) so far and the only ones I have heard are "internet" don't signal me a thing.
