Non-functional cruise control and how I fixed it with diagnostic procedure.

My cruise went out a couple of weeks ago. I checked the brake pressure switch as this is what normally goes out. It was good. Checked all the fuses and they were good. Posted a help thread on here and nothing that would resolve the issue. I then gave up and started to call repair shops but no one would work on it. As a last resort I googled online RV mechanics and found "Just Ask". They had a trial offer for $5 so I thought what the heck. First mechanic couldn't help me as I was looking for the diagnostic procedure. He forwarded me to another mechanic. He sent me a link and I used it.

Using the procedure, my son and I worked through each step and determined the set/accel button was bad. I ordered a used set of buttons from Ebay for $28. Received it today, plugged them in and went for a test drive. Everything worked great. So for a grand total of $33 we now have cruise control again.

My MH is on a 2004 Ford F53 chassis. The procedure should work for many other years. One thing that is different on mine is it doesn't have an additional switch on the brake pedal, just on the master cylinder. I have included the link to the procedure below. Hopefully it can help someone else.

I am happy to help in any way I can.

Edit: I just checked the link and it isn't working. I have a printed copy. I will try to put it into a file format. If anyone needs it, PM me and I will send it to you.

From my research, that is just for the brake lights. It's not tied into the cruise control.

It is on my '04. Needed to be replaced, fixed the cruise shutting off when I hit a bump.

It's pin #4 to the cruise module:

Hi Tim. Where was the switch located? My son and I looked and looked and didn't find it. What year is your chassis?
