Oil change ,filter and , interval

I know there is information on this but I tried a search with no luck.

My Newmar Bay Star is due for a oil change. I intend to use full synthetic oil and a top end Fram filter XG-2. The F-53 chassis has the Triton V-10 engine.

Fords Chassis Owners guide recommends 5-20 Synthetic blend changed at a maximum mileage of 7500.

I also think extending the interval to 10,000 miles should be OK since I generally drive on highways at constant speeds. We are full timers and spend 2 to 7 months at a location.
I have used full synthetics in my autos and usually changed them at 10K with no issues.
Any thoughts on this. Bob

With good full 100 % full synthetic oil you should be good for 10,000 miles but ....I have the same engine and change oil and filter once a year just because . [emoji12][emoji736]

If you do some reading on BITOG you might decide the Ford branded oil and filter are better.

Oil needs changed due to contamination, that's a function of usage, not what type oil it is. Any speculation on oil change intervals is strictly guesswork unless based on used oil analysis.

Do an oil analysis and you will find that you could go out to 15,000 miles without any adverse effects to the engine. Technology and science are hard to accept by some.

If you want to search best to use the search bar "Powered by Google" near the top of the webpage. The built in search functions don't seem to work very well.

All good points and I think "Crasher" is likely right . Full synthetics don't break down fast. Contamination is usually the biggest issue. TVP makes a good point also, but I expect to do around 5 to 6 K this year so I am likely to push the change a few more months.

We did 9500 since last Thanksgiving going back east (from Arizona) and we will not be doing that this year at $ 3.00 per gallon and 7mpg. Not to mention $1000 monthly site rental...…. Still recovering.

Right. Here's a series of used oil samples on my V-10 Bay Star Sport. https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forum...es#Post4884489
The fuel dilution is not a common issue on the 6.8 engine and it runs like a watch. If I decided to arbitrarily stretch the drain I could end up with cam phaser problems and have no idea what happened.
It's your MH and your choice. Given what you spent, why take a chance.

Do some searching on the web....Fram filters are the worst filter out there! I use Wix, but anything is better than Fram.

I use Mobile 1 full synthetic in all gas engines. Have done so for many years. Plus the Mobile 1 oil filters. Changed annually in my birthday month (easy to remember when due).

Wow, my Fords Chassis Owners guide recommends changed at a maximum mileage of 7500 or 6 months, whichever comes first. Since it might take a year to get to the 7500 miles, I end up having to change the oil every 6 months.

Just keep in mind the dealers are in the repair and replacement business too. I drive between 3K&4K a year and I change the oil and filter every year. On a gas powered engine it's cheap insurance.

I would never use Fram filters either

I appreciate all the advice.

Where are you getting the information about Fram Filters?

Over the years I've used all kinds of filters and never had an issue. Just made sure I changed them with each oil change. I have also used lots of Fram filters, and never read or heard negative reviews...….just lucky?

I use good ole dead dinosaur oil 5w30 or 10w30. Walmart sells it for $12 for a 5 qt jug. I change every 5k miles and usually use a fram or proton filter. ($2 - $3 each).
