Potential catalytic converter thief scared away!

Woo hoo! The Blink camera I keep underneath the motorhome caught a probable catalytic converter thief and the CatEye motion alarm also went off! The thief left the scene. This was money well spent. 😜

Sound on to hear what the CatEye alarm sounds like. Can't upload videos here so the link goes to the four-second video on OneDrive.

I bought mine as part of the 12' CatStrap bundle for $310: https://www.catstrap.net/product-pag...-ft-long-strap

https://www.catstrap.net/product-pag...ectronic-alarm

Separately the CatEye is $180. I also bought a second fob, one to keep in the motorhome and one to keep in the house.

Hmmm, I see they now have an "RV" CatStrap product that you can bundle with the CatEye for $356. That's a new product. It seems to consist of two shorter CatStraps, one for the top and one for the bottom of the catalytic converter: https://www.catstrap.net/product-pag...c-rv-solutions

Me and a fellow over on the Winnebago forum had a long discussion on installing the CatStrap. He had already bought one of the 7' ones so he then got a 3' CatStrap from them for the top. I also sent my install doc to the CatStrap people and they liked it. The link to that discussion on the Winnebago forum: https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...is-364130.html

Seems like the CatStrap people took those discussions with me and the other fellow to heart and created a Class A/Class C product, although at a somewhat higher price than the 12' bundle I bought.

I attached two PDFs I created, one for how I installed the 12' CatStrap and the other for how I installed the CatEye. Hopefully they are of value to you.

You did not notice his front teeth were replaced with sharpened steel chisels?

I read a post of someone who had two stolen from the same storage lot a few weeks apart. I weighed the cost of the comprehensive deductible + the hassle + the delays + possible cancellation fees before I decided to pay for an anti-theft deterrent. I figured that if I had one stolen I would then pay to have something installed to protect the replacement so I just bit the bullet and did it on my schedule as a cost avoidance.

Ours is in our driveway but there still is a risk. I read of someone whose relative parked their Class C, went into a restaurant for lunch, came out and found their catalytic converter had been stolen.

They've been getting stolen around here from local grocery stores and malls. The thieves were parking next to people at the end of the parking lot, usually where employees park, jacking the car, two people slide underneath, and they are gone inside of three minutes.
