Anyone know how I determine the proper tire inflation for my ford motorhome. Just purchased a new set of tires. The old tires has a max. inflation of 85lbs. I tired to keep them inflated between 80 and 85. The new tires have a max inflation of 125. I don't think I need to have anywhere near this amount. But I don't know how to determine what is the correct amount. The tire dealer just said run these the same as you did the old tires.

HKB,
The proper way to determine correct tire pressure is to weigh each wheel position (loaded and ready to go), then look at the tire manufacturers chart for your specific size and type of tire. I always add about 5 pounds to this, better a little too much than not enough. The pressure listed on the tire sidewall is the MAXIMUM allowed for that tire, not what is reccomended for any particular rig. If you can't weigh the rig, the safest way to go is what is recommended by the motorhome manufacturer, this will be shown on a decal usually near the drivers position.

It would greatly help if we knew the more about your coach, and the tire size.

It may be harder getting four sides weighed.I went to a Cat scale and did the front axle and the rear. I then went to this chart
Tire inflation chart inflated to recomended pressure and it handles great now.

I did same had front rear then whole unit after that I checked what the axles were reted for and put air in the cover the axle rating so if front was 7000 lbs rating added air to handle that with about 500 lbs more did same for rear so the why it work out for me and my comfort zone I run 90lbs in all my tires and I get a nice ride I have a 2000 winabago Adventurer on a 2000 ford F53 with brigestone 19.5 tires hope this helps you out some
