Rear End Problem

Hello

I am finally getting around to replace the rear calipers, the RV is jacked up and on stands, the front tires chocked, trans in park and E brake set. My problem is the rear axel spins! The original problem was the L rear caliper froze and for some reason the axel seal started to leak, I left the RV at the campground and with the mechanic we replaced the axel seal the following weekend, I drove home it was about 30 miles no problems, backed in to my parking spot and haven't moved since then, (April 27th). And I noticed an oil spot on driveway, and it smells like gear oil, I drove home no problems. Any ideas? I have a call to my mechanic also, I have the new calipers but don't want to install them in case I have to pull an axel. Thanks in advance.

1. Both rear wheels off the ground-when you turn one wheel the other wheel will turn in the opposite direction even with drive shaft not turning.
2. The brake caliper didn't release because a. The caliper slides weren't re-lubed on a scheduled basis. or b. The brake fluid wasn't changed every 2 or 3 years & moisture in the brake fluid boiled causing the caliper to not release.
3. The oil seal was ruined when the brake that didn't release got so hot it ruined the sealing surface of the oil seal.
4. The new seal could have been ruined by improper seal installation or damaged when the wheel hub was reinstalled or some of the original oil leakage wasn't cleaned off the wheel hub & is now running down.
