Relation between EGR Valve and transmission issue
Hi all!
I need some advice, and maybe some link to documentation..
I am trying to find out if my slippery transmission can be related to my egr being disconnected ? it was also empty of fluid. can it be because of this? it does not make sense to me... but I am not a mechanic. I was also wondering if the egr valve disconnected, can had my engine in high revolution, overheating or damaged somehow?
Please if someone could answer these questions that would be so helpful !! Thank you, I would appreciate also a good reference website where I could rely on, to learn about my RV .It is a 94 holiday by the way. Gas engine.,
Thank you very much y'all!

Welcome to iRV2.
An automatic transmission run low on fluid and now slipping , there is no cure short of overhaul.
EGR disconnect was not a cause, of low fluid or slipping.

In looking for info , first thing would be to identify the engine size and transmission model .
I'm not sure what transmission or engine for that matter Ford was using in motorhome chassis, back in the day .
Another is motorhome type .
Is this a Class A or Class C ?
Holiday Rambler ?

If memory serves , and it sometimes does.
A 94 Ford engine , will have electronic fuel injection with a rev limiter built into the engine's ECM ( Electronic Control Module ). EGR removal actually lowers combustion chamber temperatures , by taking recycled exhaust gasses out of the engine . If you've had over heating issues , then there is another cause.

If it is a Holiday Rambler - there are several models and chassis that it could have, but GENERALLY SPEAKING many of the RVs of that generation (and especially Holiday Rambler manufacturer) would be based on the Chevy P30 chassis and have a 454 engine and the TH400 series transmission. It is not impossible for there to be a Ford chassis coach however, so the first thing is we need to learn exactly what you have. As much information as you can provide, we can help inform you.
That said.... It doesn't really matter who manufactured the engine or transmission to answer this question. No the EGR had nothing at all to do with the transmission losing fluid, and the loss of the fluid is why the transmission started behaving badly and is now likely severely damaged. A transmission is a hydraulic machine, it MUST have fluid to transfer power, lubricate, and cool itself.

F 53 is Ford's chassis designation for Class A motorhomes .
I'm not up on my Ford engines by year .
Is the engine the V-8 ; 460 CI ?
Or the V-10 ?
