Safe T Plus or Roadmaster RSSA Steering Stabilizer on 2003 F-53 Chassis

Input please, I'd like to hear from folks with experience on the SAFE T PLUS and the ROADMASTER RSSA (Reflex Steering Stabilizer) for my Ford F-53 2003 V-10 Gas Chassis.

Please confine the comments to THESE 2 stabilizers, I know Blue Ox and others have far more expensive and better products, but I want input on JUST the SAFE T PLUS and the ROADMASTER.

CW is quoting the STP higher because the tech installs mostly Roadmaster AND he is pushing Roadmaster because it has the spring on it too. However; I see the STP has a much higher dampening pounds per square foot (if thats the right guage).

I thank you all in advance of your input....here's the screen shot I got, I'll not be buying any extended warranties, and may order the product directly to avoid shipping costs charged by CW.....I'll deal with that if y'all will kindly provide me with EXPERIENCED input on both of these units.

THANKS!!!

My input is STP. When I installed it on my unit, I could feel an immediate difference in handling. And that was just from the S&B to storage about 10 miles away and on city streets. Shortly after, drove to Oregon (1500 miles) and LOVED the response, stability and comfort it provided. Regardless of what product, I would not own another unit without one.

Kent, last year I had a safe-t-plus installed on my 2003 Rexhall F53. ( Actually a 2002 chassis I think), Customer service at Safe-t-Plus was very helpful in helping choose the correct model Safe-T-Plus. The installer was unable to get it centered correctly so that there was no pulling. He told me that I probably needed an alignment. I fiddled with it over several months trying to tweak the adjustment so that it would track straight with no pull. In truth, I finally got it right about the time I had new tires installed to replace the 6 yr. old Goodyears. The belts on the old tires may have been part of my problem. In retrospect, I would have liked to have one of the models that allows for correction from the drivers seat, as you are going down the road, to correct for side winds, road crowns, etc. However, I'll live with what I've got.

I installed the RSSA on a Chevy P30 chassis hoping it would take care of some wandering and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Bob,
Which unit allows you to make adjustments on the fly? I'm more than intrigued.

I have used the Safe - T - Plus on two motorhomes over a 35 year span and found them to be very helpful. That being said I use a Henderson's unit on it that allows me to adjust the "pull" on the fly from the driver's seat. That is the only way to go in my opinion. Sanford

Blue-Ox Tru-Center is the only one I am aware of.

I installed the RSSA, it definitely made a difference and I was able to adjust it to track perfectly straight in the right-hand lane of most interstates, where I spend most of my time. Road crowns affect the tracking as it pulls slightly left in the left-hand lane, not as bad as before installation. It used to pull right in the right lane and left in the left lane, and tended to need constant correction.

Had STP on our Freightliner Toter, now have one on the MH. Very satisfied with unit on both vehicles.

Hey folks on the Blue Ox or the Steer Safe with those centering 'trim' kits, what happens when they are centered and you go under a bridge and all the sudden the 30 mph side winds stop as you are traveling down the highway? Does it still jerk you to the side?

Just curious....

If the True Center was activated prior to going under the bridge, that jerkiness you are referring to is highly reduced. Just a slight nudge as I would describe. My coach is a 2015 Winnebago Vista 35F with the 2014 F53 22k lbs, 228 in wheelbase chassis.

This is the 2nd Safety-T-Plus I used on both of my coaches. As far as I'm concerned, it is a must. As mentioned above, getting a unit that can be adjusted in the cab would be a good idea. There are times I wish I had an adjustable unit, especially when the winds are blowing severely.

Well folks, I would have LOVED to installed the Blue Ox, but it was almost 3 times the price of the Roadmaster. (I know, I get what I pay for, but I believe this unit will FAR improve steering over NOTHING at all like I have now.)

I am having the Roadmaster RSSA (RBK9 kit) installed...
