Clicking on that link will show you the addition tunes you can purchase. This is after your original purchase of the tuner (hardware) and the included original tune you wanted.

These additional tunes are sent to you via email attachment. You save the new tune file to your hard drive. Then use the tuner with supplied USB cable to load the file into the tuner, then into the vehicle.

Can anyone explain what the colored lines represent?

The left column is MPH, the bottom is throttle position. No numbers for them, but the point is just comparing the shifting points between stock and the 5 Star tune. From bottom to top (colored lines) is 1st through 5th gear. Red being 1st and yellow being 5th.

Ordered the 5 Star Tune today. It will have the new 87 Daily-Tow program. We are going to Yellowstone and the FMCA Rally, so hoping the trip will be a bit more enjoyable, at least while I'm behind the wheel. I'm sure I read every post on this site about 5 Star. There are a lot of satisfied owners of the tune. I'm excited to try it.

Let me know how it helped please. We are making the trip from Colorado to Yellowstone the end of June.

Hey leptronjohn I appreciate the help. When I get back into town I will give you a PM. I am always on a tight timeline though. My DW cracks the whip pretty good.

bdickson,
I bought a tow/haul tune from Mike... I had him change the top gear to hold even longer than the canned tune. It is not for every body, you could wreck the engine. I know if I am not paying attention, it will lug. What I do like , is that on the steeper hills, I will hear the engine and react with more throttle with out shutting off the cruise control. this way if I add a little it will kick out of lock and into 5th easy. if i add a bit more it will kick into 4th. at the top of the hill , I just let my foot up and everything resumes with out button pushing..

vey nice for the guy that drives his own rig all the time, probably not good with many drivers.
Mike is the best to work with, is open, honest and cares about his customers.
from this point it woudl be cool to have a programable cruise control...that thinks more. ahh, something else to plan on..
john

I did basically the same thing on my older F53 with the 4R100 trans. I just had Mike disable any downshift from OD to 3rd. This allows me to crest hills and over passes without the annoying down shift when not necessary (over the canned tune). When climbing long grades, I must manually down shift out of OD as to not lug the engine. However, after speed drops below 10 mph of the cruise setting, the criuse disengages anyway. Like you, probably not for everybody, but I am thrilled with it!

It is only a re-program of the vehicles computer for the engine and trans operation. If your rig reports trans temp to a gauge or to the ODBII port, the 5 Star has no effect either way.

If you are looking for a way to "see" trans temps, then I would suggest a ScanGauge II if you have a gasser. They plug into your ODB port and reads and displays to you all kinds of engine and trans info. There are other options too that allow you to monitor these fuctions on a smart phone. There are also many options for diesels.
