You're right, called and spoke to Mike, ordered 5 star and got a scan gaugeII coming too.

Got the 5 star tune yesterday, installed today. Took longer to setup program on computer than to install the tune. Won't know how good it is for another two weeks when we hit the road and some steep grades...
Still waiting on scan gauge.

I installed the 5 star last month on our 2012 V10. It's a great improvement. No more screaming @ 4500 rpm on mild hills and the throttle response is definitely a little better. I don't think it has gotten over 3800 rpm yet.

I have not noticed an increase in fuel economy. :(

Put a few hundred miles on the 5 star this week, a lot of mild grades and some steep stuff. Have noticed that the trans does not shift down as easy now but did find that if the MH is in cruise, instead of dropping out of OD on a mild grade, it drops down two gears which puts it back in the 4000 rpm range again. But overall it is an improvement. It feels like better pickup when taking off and shifts better on acceleration.

Mine never did that, but I have the 4R100 4sp trans. I had Mike change my tune so it NEVER drops out of OD (unless the cruise kicks out due to low speed). Much much better and eliminates downshifting except on the steepest grades. When I see the need, I take it to 3rd manually.

I plan on dropping Mike an email but we are on the road and I really don't want to be messing with this until we are in one place more than a day or two.

Or maybe you could answer them here, so others can learn? I have a couple of questions about my "87 Octane Daily Tow" tune on my 2013 Thor Challenger:

1. With this tune, should I be running in Tow/Haul mode all the time, or just when running hills (up and down)?

2. In Tow/Haul mode, driving on a level road after accelerating, the transmission sometimes doesn't seem to want to make the final shift. I'll be running at 2,300 rpm at about 56-58 mph until I momentarily drop out of Tow/Haul, at which point the transmission shifts and I'm running the same speed at 1,900 rpm. Is this an expected behavior of the tune?

Tow/Haul keeps tranny in gear longer. Mine shifts out pretty close to the regular shifting though...pretty happy with it. I run a lot in cruise and have gotten the hang of when to cancel it on certain grades and just kick out the OD.

I use TH most of the time, but not all the time. Do turn it on for added braking when needed. And to answer you second question, I turn it off sometimes, so it will shift to a higher gear. This is the way this tranny acts, tune or not. This is the normal Ford programming for the TH mode. The tune does not change this.

I have just installed 5 star tune this morning and test drove. It's like night and day, steady shifting on acceleration, no 4000 rpm in cruise and climbs good gradient at 50 mph at 2500 rpm. Thank you Mike!!!!
