You won't regret it.
The only issue I've had is programming back to stock for California smog (Gotta love California). Not necessarily an issue, it was very easy in fact. It's just that it scares the jeeez out of me when I mess with something like that.
Has anybody attempted to smog their rig with the tune in place?

Que Paso Vato!
Smog? What's that? LOL. Gotta love states with smog regulations. We used to love FL...no smog not state taxes, no nothing.
Contact Mike at 5 Star for smog inspection.

I don't think the smog testers would even have a clue that you have a five star tune. I would just take it in. We don't smog test here, but it probably runs cleaner with the tune anyway.

I'm ordering the 5 Star tune tonight but I'm not sure where the PCM code is at. I've got the 2011 F53 3V V10 chassis.

The brain is on the firewall. IIRC, you can see if from the inside...a white decal.

Me too. Ordered mine last night online. Called them this morning just to check to make sure that I got the right PCM code and the correct device. I got the "RV only" device and they said that was the correct one and the PCM code (TVD3) that I gave them was right.
Also it only works for 87 octane gasoline or higher. The higher the octane the better it works. Cannot use any gasoline below 87 octane.
It should be here Saturday. I'll be taking it on the road the 16th so I'll be able to see how it performs.

Here in the Rockies we use 85 octane as a higher octane is not needed. At 5000 feet and above we have already lost 20% of our power. I talked to 5Star and they said that is fine. As we travel to lower elevations the regular gas becomes 87 octane. At that point we could probably use higher octane fuel but I am not sure of the cost benefit of doing so. For 10-20 cents more per gallon I don't know if it is cost effective. Has anyone looked at this?

My gas mileage may have improved but there are so many variables when I drive my "billboard on wheels" that I don't know if it really matters. What does matter is the drivability of my RV and the 5 star tune exceeded my hopes/expectations. The difference is extraordinary.
I run 87 octane and get anywhere from 5 1/2 to 8 1/2 mpg. Really depends on when I'm towing or not, going uphill or downhill, which way the wind is blowing, etc.

I need some more help please. I got my X4 tuner with the RV tune in the mail. Reading the booklet that came with it on chapter 3.0 There are two different files to download? 3.1 and 3.2 3.1 says preloaded tune file and 3.2 says custom tune file. Will I have to choose one of these (If so witch one) or will it do it by it's self. I sure would hate to mess this thing up right before my trip. I am very mechanical minded but the opposite for computers.

You have to load the custom tune file. Let us know how it goes.
