Question Shoulder belts

I have a 2007 Coachmen Mirada and it only has lap belts for the driver and passenger. I am surprised at not having a three point belt. Can I have a three point belt installed? Would a pair of three point setups from a wrecked F450-550 fit? The chassis is an F550 V10. Look forward to any and all help.

I'd be surprised it could legally have come from the factory that way. If the anchor points are in place, a salvage yard would be a good place to get the proper belts.

Shoulder belts

I have contacted a local salvage yard and I can get a pair from an F450/550. Hoping the local Ford dealer can a) find an anchor point and b) install the pair for a bit more security. Thanks for the feedback.

ForsythTwo on class A motorhomes the seat belts are installed by the coach manufacturer. They do not come with the chassis.

A Class A RV, in the U.S., still must have 3 point seat belts in the driver and passenger seat positions, minimum. Forsyth Two is in Nova Scotia, I'd assume Canada has similar requirements. If the anchor points are there, it's a simple install to put in the proper belts and inertial lock retractors. If the shoulder anchor points aren't there, it becomes much more expensive to install them in an RV's sidewall.

I just read the standard and couldn't validate your statement. I'd love to see where you got this information. From what I read the shoulder belt requirement is for vehicles with a gross rating under 10,000lb.s

I'm not saying shoulder belts aren't a good idea, I was just curious since many of the RV's I've run across only have lap belts....including mine.

Shoulder belts

Yes, I have seen older coaches with the shoulder belt and many still with the lap belt. I know it is a matter of comfort and feeling safe, but the lap belt just leaves us feeling a bit exposed. A residue from wearing three point belts for many years.

ForsythTwo, I looked at several 2007 Coachmen Mirada's on line and I do not see a shoulder belt in the pictures. Looked at some 2015's and you can see the shoulder belt.
I would call Coachman for the location of the anchor point.

I would be surprised if you can find anyone who will install a revised restraint system in the coach. They would be taking a substantial liability issue on.

The problem is going to be the sidewall anchor point. Basically the anchor will need the capacity to hold several times your normal wait due to the G forces of rapid deceleration.

An alternative would be to change the front seats to a model that has the shoulder belt built into the seat such as this -
