Tiffin V10 experiences

Greetings,
Just got a 2019 Tiffin Allegro 34PA, 4K miles. I’m asking for any input//problems you might have had with your Ford V10 engine. It ran fine on the trip home from the dealer, about 60 miles, with a couple of long hills. I don’t anticipate any problems, I’m just curious.
Thank you in advance for your reply.

3 problem free years with our 2019 and nearly 11,000 miles. I change the oil every 3,000 miles or the start of the camping season. I use a scan gauge ODBII to monitor my engine and transmission temperatures. The engine computer does its job protecting the engine, but I do my best to keep the RPM’s below 4400 climbing or descending hills.

They really rev and can handle it, but I honestly prefer to keep the RPM’s down as I don’t like the noise, but it’s all part of the gas motorhome experience.

This is my second v10 and I’ve had good experiences with both of them.

My 2017 V10 has over 35,000 trouble free miles. I Just change the oil every 5000 miles, nothing else yet.

My 2013 V10 came with bad kingpins. It also just needed (at 78000 miles) both exhaust manifolds and a new catalytic converter.

We put 47,000 miles on '14 Open Road 34TGA. No issues with the V10. Yes it screams on uphill runs, but keeps on going. 5 star tune was best thing we ever did to the '14 - smoothed out shift patterns and eliminated the 5th to 3rd shifting on slight uphills. No noticeable changes to fuel economy. We just did regular service and oil change as called for in maintenance schedule. I was never able to change air filter, always had my service shop do that.

I have 113,000 miles on my 2006 National SeaBreezeLX. No issues so far, and it does not burn any oil to speak of. Great engine!

The pre 2016 V10 drive trains have the screaming engine issue.

The V10 6 speed used in late 2016 and on have been re-tuned for lower RPMs and smother gear changes.
Don't compare the 5 speeds with the 6 speeds.

Good point about changes in V10 and change in transmission. We drove a rental class C from Iowa to Alaska in 2011 and 2018. Difference in drive train on the '18 vs the '11 was huge. The '18 was a pleasure to drive vs the '11.

First I've heard that story.

I went from a 5500 RPM 4 speed to a 4500 RPM 6 speed. Night and day difference.

My 2018 also came with bad kingpins. No other problems with 34,000 miles.

Just passed 50,000 miles on my 2016 Open Road with V10 / 6-spd. Very happy with its reliability, performance and drivability. Only problem of any note was mice chewing on its injector wires earlier this summer. That was a bummer! But very satisfied with the V10 overall, and intend to keep taking good care of it and driving it for years to come.

More to it than the engine!
