I haven't given this much thought til now but I've got 30,000 miles on my class A and have been thinking of getting the tires rotated. They don't seem to be wearing funny yet. The local places want $30 to $50 to do it.

I'm wondering how many of you have your tires rotated regularly, how much you pay for the service or if you've had any repercussions when your tires haven't been rotated. Thanks for chiming in. Expo

I believe the general consensus is not to spend the money on the rears, and to only do the fronts when having the brakes or whatever checked.

Rotating tires generally isn't recommended unless you have a wear problem early in the life of the tires. When it is done it's important to keep the same height tires together on the rear axle to avoid overloading one of the duals.

A typical rotation would be:
1. Move both tires on the left side of the rear axle to the right side of the rear axle.
2. Move both front tires to the left side of the rear axle.
3. Move the rear tires that were originally on the right side of the rear axle to the fronts.

In most cases coaches with steel wheels would have to have the tires deflated and valve stems repositioned. On some aluminum wheels the tires would have to be removed from the original wheels and mounted on the wheel in the new position.

The expense generally isn't worth the added wear you might get by rotating the tires. Our original tires went over 50,000 miles with no abnormal wear before an alignment problem caused some wear on the outside edge of the left front. With the age, difference in wear from side to side, and cost of rotating, I decided we would be money ahead to just replace all of them.

From what I have read mainly from here is that your tires will have to be replaced long before they show uneven wear so dont bother rotating.

Save your money, and put it towards your next set of tires, 5 years (or so) from new.

I put about 7k miles/year on my coach, and won't wear out the tires before they need to be replaced due to age.

When we had motorhomes, the most I ever did was to cross the two front tires to help equalize the wear on them.

Expo , I notice on your profile that your m/h is a 2004. damon . Which means that it was probably built on a 2003 chassis. So your tires will be in jan 2008 over 5 years old. Just save your money and go ahead and replace All 6 tires with brand new tires. And go ahead and keep the best tire for a spare. safetly first m/h tires are not design to last that long .Too much sitting and not using it on the road is also bad for them.

I'm lucky enough to have a 04 chassis with the 04 Damon but I will heed the advice and not rotate since the tires all look good.

I questioned the MH rotation because lack of rotation on my suv caused one of the tires to cup on the inside and it makes a racket on the freeway. Thanks for the posts. Expo
