Tires - Ford Warranty

Hi, I bought my motorhome new in May. It now has 6200 miles on it. The front tires are out of round and have been since it was new, although I only just now diagnosed it. The Ford dealer has confirmed they are out of round.

The dealer is telling me Ford will not cover tires on stripped chassis. I find this to be unacceptable given it's a brand new vehicle.

Any experience with this? I am fighting to get them to replace them for free.

That's a tire issue... not Ford.
I just had my Michelin steer tires trued (shaved) back to true roundness. They were about .035" out of round. Cost me less than $90 and they are smooth as glass now.

Here's my thread on that subject... https://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/tir...ks-547652.html

Thanks for the link. I've never had a tire issue on a new vehicle and assumed it was covered by Ford.

I guess I will pursue this with Goodyear and then go down the truing route if I must.

Just FYI... you can get brand new tires that need to be trued. Especially large truck type tires.

I bought a "new" MH in 2001 sitting on a Ford V-10 F53 chassis. There was a TSB about vibrations and this MH had them. I called the Ford Motorhome Assistance Center number listed in the owner's manual and they made an appointment at the closest dealer to me that #1: had access to the equipment needed to perform the TSB and #2: was willing to do the work. I live on the west side of the St Louis, MO area. I had to drive 125 miles to Benton, IL to reach that dealer. They used the Hunter GSP9700 "Vibration Control - Road Force" tire balancer to try balancing the tires. The MH had a tag axle and a spare. They checked all 9 tires. They ended up replacing at least 5 of those (Goodyear 670RV) tires and at least 3 wheels. Goodyear stood good for the tires but it took each one a week in shipping to arrive. The first time I took it there, they had it a month. The second time they went through the procedure, it took them 6 weeks. I don't know if anything has changed but YES, the Ford dealer should handle replacing the defective tires (mounting and balancing). It shouldn't cost you anything.
