Reading up on the V-10 310 HP engines, I came across some information on torque and horsepower readings. I read that the max engine torque is 3250 RPM and max engine HP is 4200 RPM. This is before the 06 models.

My question is: What would one use to go up a 6% or better grade for RPM's? Would it be torque or HP that would be the major factor? Thanks Again..........

With the v10 you need to keep the rpm's up when climbing 6 & 7 percent grades. With our 38' coach and pulling a 3,600lb SUV I'm in 2nd gear running 42 to 45mph at 4250 + or - rpm. There are occasions if the grade is exceptionally long I may need to drop into 1st gear and still keep the rpm's around 4500. That's about it.

A general rule of thumb is Torque gets you moving and Horsepower keeps you moving.
