Looks like a junction point added by the coach builder to extent the battery cable.

Circuit breaker ?, that small.
I guess it could be, but honestly, it looks like something added in just to give trouble later as the coach ages, as if we didnt have enough to deal with as it is.

Is the cover a plastic or bakelite material? Seems that if it was designed to just join two cables that the cables would be touching to give a better electrical contact. I vote for it being a fuse or circuit breaker.

Yes it is. In the center there is a "thing" that is recessed in a hole. It has a slot, like for a small screw driver.

Because of the adjustment screw in the middle, I suspect that is a high current potentiometer. You said the the battery is on one side, do you happen to know what's on the other? (For this I'm assuming that it's being bolted to bare metal is the GND connection. )

Welcome to iRV2; NerdyNomad. first post I see.

My coach has 2 similar devices , both are 135 amp slow burn fuses , to protect the cables that run the power to the front of the coach from the battery tray, 1 chassis battery , 1 for coach battery.
Could be a manual re-set 12v circuit breaker.
Virago-Rider , do you have the same volt reading on both terminals?

Ok, 12V manual re-set, I see.
Probably the same stupid thing like Ford had on their simi trucks back in the 70s for the lights.
Be running down the road late at night trying to get a load to delivery, tired & sleepy & BAM!!! every light on the rig go out, pitch black at 65~70 mph.
Make you feel like your hearts about to jump out of your chest & waiting for the big crunch of that cab balling up out in the woods.

Yeah, thats a bright idea, manual re-set circuit breaker hid somewhere that you know nothing about or where its located to give folks problems.

Every time I see something like this, I get to thinking the movie Animal House must really be true & the engineers along that time must have been in that movie & didnt learn anything while at school.

Here's a picture of my set up , 2-135 amp fuses and the starter relay , all exposed to road spray from the rear wheels . Yep a lot of thought went into this location.

It shows zero ohms across it, soi am guessing it is a breaker of some sort.

I tried to get a wiring diagram from Thor... They told me they don't have information on a damper this old.
