What is the function of this missing relay?

Having lots of problems with this 33 ft seaview going over things noticing missing this relay, possibly unrelated but my generator wonít crank anymore

Looks like place the factory uses to keep a spare.. it does nothing.. you get a spare and keep it there until you need it.. and I bet you can guess when you will need it.. that is correct.. when the spare is not there..
Tell us type of generator.. better opinions will follow.. 1st give us date and position of every battery.. 99% of time.. you have bad house batteries.. next jump house batteries with running car.. see if that changes anything.. but only if you are 100% certain and had batteries tested free.. can't beat that deal, never try to jump a bad batteries.. it could be last thing you do..
Now.. New batteries all the way around.. all connected properly.. so take pictures before you touch anything.. you need to do fast check for ground.. now you are not jumping batteries.. you are testing ground.. so take jumper cables and put one cable on big beefy part of generator engine and opposite one on rv frame.. grind them back and forth to get good contact.. and see if that changes anything.. takes 5mins..

Look closely at the receptacle where the relay plugs in. There are no female spade connectors in any of the 5 slots because that position doesn't do anything. As don mentioned, it's for a spare relay.

I would agree with Donr103. By zooming in on your picture, it appears there are no terminals in the relay socket. It is likely a place to keep a spare relay in case an active relay was to fail. Same as fuse boxes often have extra slots for spare fuses.

If you have the Ford Owner's manual, it lists fuse and relay locations. The relay cover gives you the relay number. Should be listed in the owner's manual.

First off, welcome to iRV2!

Second, you should add a "signature" to your profile. It contains whatever info you want; most people put info about their coach there, so they don't have to type it into each message. Instructions for adding a signature are here.

Re: Empty relay socket. The Ford F-53 chassis manual should contain a chart of that relay box. You can download a manual here. Make sure you get the correct one for your coach; your chassis could be a year "older" than your coach.

Your generator is self contained. The remote switchs get power from the generator, all controls are on the generator. Nothing from Ford.

The only cable TO the generator is a 12 volt battery cable from the house battery. That cable will have a breaker near the battery.
