Which shocks? 31' Class-c

Recently, after reading about several good experiences with new shocks on the V10 Ford platform, I ordered a set of Bilsteen HD rear shocks for our 05 Class-C.

Under $90 each from eshocks.com... As it turns out, they're on back-order till August..

I've also read a few opinions that Bilsteens are the last thing that I want to put on that coach...

So I'm soliciting more opinions....

They look easy enough to change.

IMO they are a good shock for that application and you'll like them. I would also try another source - availability should not be an issue.

Triumph Tiger Rider.

You will get different opinions. There are several on these forums that will tell you to take your Bilsteins off and replace them with Koni's. They are expensive but they are supposed to be heads above Bilsteins. These recommendations have come from those that have done as stated and they noticed less significant bumping and noise from the expansion joints, which are the worst. They've stated that they are way, way better than stock Bilsteins. Neither one has stock in Koni's so I'm assuming they are being truthful. We have 7,000 miles on our 2014 and when I get the $$$$$ I'm going to get the Koni's.

Yeah, they say that on the workhorse chassis section too. But then some of them have taken their koni's off and gone back to bilsteins because they handle better.

The koni's are not gas-charged and there's very little (or none) compression damping to them - it's all rebound. So they tend to soak up the sharp bumps a little better but don't support the coach as well for slow speed compression damping like cornering. Some said the coach will sway a little more back and forth on driveway aprons, uneven surfaces, etc.

That's why I said you'll like the bilstiens. For three times the money or so, the Koni FSD's are definitely an option.

In 2005 Workhorse updated their chassis' with Bilstien shocks to improve handling. Koni's are a relative newcomer to the scene. Both are reported to be better than any of the others, monroe, gabriel, etc.

CJ,
Thanks.. thanks for highlighting the differences.

Eshocks returned money today, after a little prodding - apparently they forgot to do that after canceling the order, so we're looking for another source.

Bilsteen HDs are out of stock at several sources.
