Which TruCenter
Fixing to pull the trigger on a TruCenter for our 2013 F53 20.5k chassis.
Problem is that I don't know if I need the 160 or 270 lb. model. According to the Blue Ox chart it calls for the 160 lb. model. Some other sites that show up to a 2010 call for the 270 lb. model.
Any ideas?

I'd like to get one myself. You have a good question, I think I'd just go ahead and call Blue Ox and ask them. It did appear to me that Blue Ox's chart had the 160 lb unit specified for all of the F-53 chassis, regardless of year or size, only the bracket was different for older chassis models.

Yup, the 160 for all F53s. Please post after you talk to them. If they suggest 160, why? Isn't more force the better?

In looking at their chart, the 270 lb. units were specified for all the big chassis like Bluebird, Foretravel, Freightliner, etc. I'm guessing that the 160 lb. is enough force for the smaller, lighter F-53 chassis.

OK, called Blue Ox. Their reply to your question was that the 270 lb unit will not fit on a Ford F-53 chassis. The 160 lb unit has to be used. Very helpful and friendly people there at the factory.

Not sure where I read that the Tan Safe T Plus shock was in the mid 200 lbs. range. Steer Safe is up to 400 lbs. Then a website with a fitment guide had the F53 up to 2010 matched with the 260 TruCenter...could be an error though.
If 160 is enough that's great because they are a little bit cheaper. I saw a brand new one on ebay yesterday for 599...it didn't last long.

Check out this saga before you make the purchase!

After about the 4th or 5th TruCenter, I finally got one that did not fall apart.

Wow, it appears they are junk. I've heard they had issues in the past, but that all problems were solved on the newer ones. Did they really take care of the issues or is it all BS?
