King Pin Greasing

I do my own maintenance but have question on the KP. Does the load need to be raised off the front end to do that properly? Iíve heard that it does.

Here is a PDF file for Spicer axles. I don't know if your coach has this brand axle or not. Look at page 12

The answer is IT DEPENDS. Some are lubed loaded, some unloaded.

Follow the directions for your axle. Should be an ID plate on the axle (usually in the middle) so you can look up the correct procedure for your king pins.

Of our 3 DP's two were "unloaded", one loaded.

Iíll have to look, thanks for the pdfís. The rear axle is a Eaton but not sure if they make steer axles.

Here's a link to a manual for mine, it is an Eaton
https://www.dana.com/globalassets/re...ice-manual.pdf

It says on page 33

Important Note: Do not raise the vehicles off the ground during greasing. If the wheels are off the ground grease will not pass through the thrust bearing properly. This may cause premature bearing wear and/or failure.
