Roadmaster chassis steering gear box help needed

Good Morning ! My first post and I am glad to have found this site !! I have a 2004 Holiday Rambler Ambassador Diesel. The steering gear box is shot. I have found a replacement at REV to the tune of $2700 plus shipping. The gear box P/N is 10841825. I've been told that TRW should make a replacement for under $1000. Where should I look to confirm this ??

thanks
mark

Sounds about right, REV marks things up double.

Here is an extensive thread on the subject. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/ste...rw-210152.html

If you do have a TRW they can be rebuilt.

I have a Sheppard M100 but must be one of the lucky ones, my steering is tight.

Sheppard rebuit

I found a place here in Phoenix Az that rebuilds steering gear boxes and has an excellent reputation. I took him my leaking Sheppard M100 gear box in on a Friday and got it back Tuesday. $430 total. Now I just have to put it back in. The removal was a nightmare as I have never done it. Working on the ground, gravel not concrete. No clearance for a pitman arm tool, very little room for ratchets and wrenches, just Not much working room at all …… but after about 4 hours I had it out, and only 24 bandaids. Now……… to get it back in.
I can do this !

Be sure to tighten ("torque") the mounting bolts properly. If you cant do it with your tools or access, once you get it together take it to a truck shop and ask them to look it over and check the bolt tightness.
Good luck

Would you be willing to let us know who did the work for you in Phoenix. I would appreciate it. I’m just north of Phoenix.
