Retired LEO update

Good moring all...

haven't been on here in a while so just saying hi again. Starting my 10th year of retirment July and just stted back traveling again. We had a class A Discovery when we started back in 2017 after my m/c wreck but in 2019 after having a knee replacement, it was found that i had stage 4 renal cell cancer. I lost a kidney and started 2 types of chemo, 2 pills a day and an infusion every 3 weeks. I have been blessed because 3 months after starting chemo, the pet scans have shown me completely clear.. still on chemo but unable to do the traveling we were doing. So we traded the class A for a travel trailer and still camping...

Everyone be safe out there.....

ZUTEDUFF,

Sorry to hear about your fight against cancer. Sounds like you have a positive attitude. Continue to count your blessings. God is good even when circumstances are not.
Keep fighting sir!

Beautiful shadow box. I may have known your father, or seen him around I'm sure. A Policeman badge in the box I'm sure, which is a great thing to have. I retired wearing the last Policeman badge on the department. Your dad had a great job (Motor) and even better job as a pilot. Im sorry for the loss of your dad-he did have a good run at that pension tho.

Nice box. I've considered making one but haven't done it yet.

Davendeb,

Thank you! I hope you get your shadow box completed.

When I retired, my LE brothers and sisters presented me with a coffee table shadow box. It’s a bit much but the fact that they thought enough of me to make this means a lot.

I retired in 2006 from The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation ( BCI&I) after 28 years as a Special Agent. I also worked at The Austintown Police Department for my first 3 years in law enforcement. Retirement sure is nice and I highly recommend it!

My wife and I bought a travel trailer 4 years ago and have only camped in Ohio State Parks so far. This year we plan to take some longer trips like to the Michigan UP, upper state NY and maybe Maine. We camp a lot with another couple; he being a retired police chief whose department I worked with.

Hey Otispuggle - congrats to the other side - it sure is a blast. I have traveled to the upper peninsula and live in upstate NY - Saratoga area. If you are looking for camping suggestions in NY let me know - you can PM me.

Apologies up front that i havent read ALL of the replies on this post…
My husband is an active Lieutenant at a California PD, and i am a retired Deputy Marshal. I was diagnosed with leukemia in August, and he is close to retirement, so we bought a previously owned motorhome and decided to start traveling! We closed our Facebook account on “Inauguration Day” so arent able to search there for a “retired law enforcement rv’ing group.” Does anyone know of any such group on this, or another forum? Would really love to meet new RV’ing LEO’s.

Retired NJ County Animal Control Officer here. Been out for 5 years and finally decided to get out and see the country. Bought a 1994 Fleetwood Bounder 34J and loving every minute so far. Lots to learn and my life has taken a totally new direction. I see that the first post from 2013 was from a Fish & game and hopefully he is still around. Anybody else an "Animal Cop"?

First few years I was a Deputy Sheriff in Columbia, SC. Retired as an FBI Agent. End of Duty 03/31/2013. Spent my first year and a half as a Support Person in D.C., six (6) years in Rochester, NY on the Reactive Squad, then the next 20 + in Atlanta on several different Squads.
Had a ball! Everyday I couldn’t wait to get to work, if you call it that.
Now have a new TT and bitting at the bit to see the country. Wife named her “Freedom”.

Retired Oregon and Idaho

Retired LEO after 29 years. Retired since 2014. Love our RV life. Not full time but out for 4 to 6 weeks at a time. Oregon coast and Montana are a couple of our favorite areas. Greetings to my fellow LEO retirees.
