confession is good for the soul

Since Capn Dave and Magumba confessed, I was also getting "disoriented" and flew into Cambodia in 1967 with LRPs on board.

I flew both fixed wing and rotary wing for 35 years. I worked for MD for five years then flew in the U.S. Army for thirty years, retiring in 1995. I miss the association with fellow flyers, but not the flying so much. These motor homes are harder to maintain than airplane sometimes.

BBQ Judge, Don't you feel better now that your navigation error is out in the open. With GPS that would never happen today.
I miss flying but really enjoy traveling in the motor home.

With four children and one income, flying wasn't an option, even though I worked for Boeing. I did join the Boeing soaring club for a couple of seasons, but travelling to their summer flying location in Eastern WA was too expensive.

I was a simulation engineer at Boeing for about 10 years and have hundreds of hours in the 747, 757 and 767 sims, but none of it was bookable time, since I didn't have a pilot's license. I remember one late evening overtime stint when I was flying the 747-200 simulator, trying to sort out a problem with the simulation of the air conditioning and pressurisation system. I suddenly started getting low fuel warnings, and spent about 5 minutes with the charts trying to find an airport I could land at and refuel. Dummy - I just went over to the instructor's console and refilled the tanks!

I always felt if I had GPS I wouldn't gotten lost so much.. I think my flight instructor was to blame. He told me the first thing to do was fly the plane, the hell with everything else

Years ago I got the opportunity to fly an L-1011 simulator at TWA in St. Louis. It was amazing. The instructor set the sim for the accident that had happened in Sioux city Iowa when an airliner had and engine catastrophic failure that took out all 3 hydraulic systems. He stated he had performed the accident sim hundreds of times. We crashed also. I was surprised how voile t the simulator was during the accident. Did have a gear collapse a few years ago. Was over before we new what had really happened. Walked Away from another.

Single engine land, instrument! Approximately 2200 total hours and currently fly a Piper Saratoga SP. I currently fly approximately 150 hours per year, and put approximately 6000 miles per year on the MH. Love both!

It's hard to choose which one for a trip, isn't it?

That was the whole reason we bought a small'ish C Class, the DW and / or Deputy Dog and more comfortable 'sitting around' at airports and air shows.

If its not too far away form home, the DW drives the m/h and I fly.
