Any fellow aviators out there?

I started flying in Arctic Sweden in the early 60's. I've been bushflying in Northern Manitoba since '71.
My wife and I have a remote Fly in Only Loghome at a private lake North of 56, where we spend the summers, the winters in Deming NM.
We are getting up in age, so our lifestyle will have to change in a few years.
Presently we own a Experimental 8 place Turbo Prop on Wipline 4500's.
Since 1971 I have designed and built 12 large seaplanes, and owned over a dozen Factory builts from Super Cubs to Piper Aztec's

I would imagine there are hundreds of aviators and pilots on this forum.

Quite a few Viet Nam vets (old and ugly).

Not an aviator but old AF air traffic controller here. Just got this email from FMCA the other day.

Always wanted to go - never been - and mulling it over. Have not priced it out but it would probably be a great way to go. Not that going it alone is an issue but it would put folks with two great interests RVs and things with Wings together.

Radar contact.

Old private pilot- single engine land. Currently 66 years old, gave up flying about 4 years ago. Was not getting enough hours to stay current, and felt like skills were slipping. Had never bent one, and thought it was time to gracefully walk away. Boy, do I miss it! Someone said once it is in your blood you can never get away from it.

Hey, you're still young! I'm 70 and still doing (it)! It keeps my young and it's an incentive to exercise and stay healty ( gotta pass that medical every year)
Soon the Govm't will insist I have a medical before each flight.

Havent flown in 5 years, but am a private pilot, miss it--expensive hobbie though. Learned in a Cessna 172--used it a lot, then owned 1/2 of a Bonanza V-tail(great , fast plane). Was going to test for my instrument cert. but before I tested, I bought a house and havent flown since. Vince

Nice hide-out you have there.
I have a commercial license and instrument rating. I built a PA-22 108 (Piper Colt) up from parts and modified it to be STOL. But, the US airspace laws changed in the early 90's and made my home (private) airport illegal to fly from and required transponders too expensive for my simple rag and tube plane, so I gave up aviation and started RVing. I still attend EAA Oshkosh or Lakeland every couple years.

Just retired from 44 years working full time as a helicopter pilot. Army Huey pilot in Vietnam to EMS pilot at the end. 16000 hrs of fun.
Fly safely.

Been flying about 20 years started in ultralights, built A Experimental out of wood took about 9 months, it was a lot of fun to build and fly. Sold that and bought a Avid the engine gave me to much trouble so I removed it and replaced it with a Subaru car engine that made it nice. sold that and bought a Beking Duce it Was ser # 1 . Sold that and bought a Yak 52 put over 200 hr on it. Sold that and now I have a Maule I like it but don't use it enough. To many irons in the fire. I like RVing to much would rather be camping than flying.

I'm a retired Boeing engineer (13 years ago). Lots of simulator time (747/757/767), and sailplanes, but I never got a licence.

A fellow retiree is a member of the Octogenarian Flying Club, and still has his V36 Bonanza. He was telling me over lunch a while back that the Washigton Chapter has about 40 active pilots, including a woman who only learned to fly in her mid-70's. She has a Piper Cherokee and flies all over the US to visit kids and grandkids. Apparently, she had a 172, but got fed up of having to climb a ladder to gas up and traded for the Piper.
