Used "Ioverlander" to find a great spot to boondock on East side of Prince Edward Island. Bay was full of seals. Saw a lot of Phalaropes, Gulls, two Bald Eagles, Yellow Legs and a few Great Blue Herons

Met with younger son and family at Pawnee Buttes in Pawnee National Grasslands about 60 miles west of Fort Collins, CO. We could hear the Sandhill Cranes at high altitude but required binoculars to see them well. They apparently spend some time on the Platte River and then head south. We could see them circling in large groups as they used early afternoon thermals to get them to 5000' to perhaps 10,000' above ground level. They can fly over 500 miles each day that they do migrate

At our son's place at 7600' or so in Sangre de Cristos in northern NM. There are a lot of Ravens. They make a incredible number of calls and sounds. And they are big. They will finish off a bird feeder in no time - and being smart and collegial, they help each other with knocking things down

Drove from Oaxaca to Isthmus of Tehuanteoec several days ago. Stopped for a break and there was a pair of spectacular White-faced Magpie Jays. Hit the famous Isthmus winds later that day and had 315 W solar panel ripped off to last mounting. Now need to fix this. Next day the Sewer hose holder on Roadtrek broke loose. Younger son and family arrive on Christmas Day and we have repairs to do. The joys of traveling

On beach st Xpu-Ha for next 3 to 4 weeks. Lots of Frigate Birds and Pelicans. Cozumel Parrots flew over at dawn. Usually see Linneated Woodoeckers and hear Flammulated Owls.

San Cristobal de las Casas

We spent five nights in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. We got in a good day of birding with Francesca Albini. We managed 15 Life Birds(new birds) to include two new Warblers and the White-eared Hummingbird.

Spending six days in Patzcuaro, Michoacán, Mexico. Went out with a birding guide we met through birding Pals. Saw some great birds to include a new hummer, the Beryline Hummingbird and a warbler endemic to five lakes in the region. The target bird was the Blue Mockingbird which is quite common and which we saw and heard

Reed, sounds like you have found some good birds in Mexico. Have you birdied SE Arizona in spring? The variety of Hummingbirds there is amazing. I have 15 different ones on my life list, 14 of them are from their.

Arizona Lizards - we have birdied in SE Arizona and have gotten a number of hummers. We added White-eared and Beryline Hummers in Chiapas and Michoacán where they are extremely common.

We have cheated and birdied in Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Peru and so have seen around 50 species of hummers total but only 13 in the US

North of Puerto Vallerta

Spending a few days at Bungalows Bahia ($10/day) overlooking the bay of Puerto Vallerta.

Birding has been quite good. There are flocks of the spectacular Black-faced Magpie-Jay (30" long with half of that tail), nesting Yellow-winged Caciques, several Yellow-cheeked Woodpeckers, and the Golden-crowned Hummingbird.

Elaine and I had a 12 hour day of birding with Jonathan Vargas of San Blas, Nayarit. We got 20 "life Birds" to include Purple-backed Jay and the the Black and White Hawk-Eagle. We head to El Fuerte next for the Copper Canyon train trip

A lot of dead Grebes on the shore at Kino Bay, Sonora. Fishermen have nets set up just offshore and the diving Grebes are caught in the nets and drown
