Very cool! The trusty Skyhawk* is still probably my favorite plane of all time. That's coming from a guy who owns several others, flies Boeing 777s for a living. I always say it's the closest thing to a Nerf toy you can fly, a masterful design that has endured for more than 54 years. Kudos to your son!

*There is a Lark, actually, made to compete with the plane you flew. But, you were in the "real deal" with some 40,000 of these wonderful machines out there, nary a one (even being abused by students around the world) failing in flight.

Congratulations Ron, It is indeed a great experience. My wife and I have many fond memories of trips in our Skyhawk.
Now I am flying RC airplanes, what a blast.

Ron, Good for you. You may get bit by the flying bug. Got my license in 1977 after being given an introductory flight as a gift. That's all it took. I flew RC planes and quit that after 25 years. Also built 2 full scale homebuilts of my own.

Video of my first flight

Here is a link to my first flight video. A little bouncy and a lot of yawing, reminded me of steering a boat in choppy water

I don't know if I will be able to control my adiction

Liked the videos. I'm pretty sure there will be more to come. Enjoy...

Congratulations on your new addiction. I got hooked at a young age and and bought my first plane in my 20s so I can identify with the thrill that you felt. I still remember my first flight in a light plane a Cessna Skylane; I occasionally fly a Cessna Skyhawk today very similar to the one you were in.

I've always said that flying and skiing is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Oooooops

In my original post I said I would be flying a Skylark but it was definitely a Skyhawk, a slight typo.

Now I've got to win the lottery so I can buy one
