Not by much. Adjust then fire it up and check RPM of fan. Be sure to put back what oil came out.

1500 at 2400 seems pretty slow to me.

My 2001 is 350 isc side radiator will run at 180 most of the time but on long pulls in 4th gear at 2000 rpms it will warm up to 220 - 230 and hold there. I have driven tractor trailer that would run the same and never had any problems. No alarms or anything. Donít know what the limits are. As soon as I crest the hills it will cool down in a short time. Didnít think any thing was abnormal

My 2001 dsdp with the 350 isc runs 180 most of the time but pulling a hill at 45 around 2100 rpms it will warm up to 220 - 230 while pulling but after I crest the hill it cools off fairly quickly. I have driven lots of tractor trailers and they all operated the same way so I thought no big deal. Donít know the max temperature of operation but donít get any alarms so I guess all is well

Light should come on at 220 and engine shut down will happen at 225, I have had my light come on but not shut down. I have figured out that my fan is not turning fast enough, yours and mine have what they call a 1to1 fan setup it should turn the same speed as the engine. The problem is in the priority valve that supplies oil to the steering and the fan, I have had mine apart and the flow control valve moves free and I removed the pressure relief valve and it looks ok but I can't figure out how it works. The fan work fine up to 1200 rpm it turns 1800 then go to 1300 and the fan drops to 1400 and won't go any faster. I am going to call Spartan in the morning and give them the vin # to a 2005 so I can get a parts diagram for the 2 speed electric priority valve and then I will install a fan temp switch on the top rad pipe use a relay to switch it from low to high and install a switch on the dash to manually tune it on. Dick you might want to check your fan speed it sounds like you have the same problem 230 is way to hot and I am seeing this is a problem for these.

Well guys heating problem fixed, installed a new $100 relief valve in the priority valve from Spartan, fan speed at 2000 engine rpm is 2700 rpm problem solved. Now I can work on teeing in a two way solenoid valve in the port feeding the fan motor to make it a two speed fan.

Thanks for the info I tried to adjust but ended up replacing the relief valve, that fix it but I had your problem spinning too fast. I called Spartan and they sent me the trouble shooting manual were it has the hydraulic schematic for all the different systems. The one for the 2 speed fan has an electric solenoid that when the solenoid is powered it dumps oil from the supply side of the priority valve through a orifice to tank slowing the fan then when power is removed the fan goes to high. I teed in a 2 way solenoid valve using the normally closed port and installed a adjustable flow control valve back to tank. power on to valve and fan is in low remove power and fan is in high.
