This forum is amazing! It's helped us a lot, but we're currently in a difficult situation with the power steering on the coach. Pulled into Campground 3 days ago and power steering had been whining some but it got worse as we Pulled into theCampground, we researched this site and all our manuals, online..found that the hydraulic fluid and filter might be the problem. We had Spartan overnight the filter. (We're currently in Williams AZ, on the way to Quartzsite area to work). After replacing all that, we tested it this morning by taking several laps around the Campground. Still growling. The fan is working and accelerates when giving the coach fuel. So it's getting fluid.. not sure where the priority cartridge/valve is, or anything else to check other than power steering pump? We've been lucky to be able to extend our stay here but not sure what our next move should be. Seems like power steering pump? Is that doable if we can find one?

I'm usually not a fan of additives but I have had good luck with Lucas power steering additive. It stops the whine. Depending on how large your hydraulic system is, it may take more than one bottle.

Your other alternative is to figure out if it's coming from the pump, or the steering box and rebuild it.

Thank you, I think we're going to try and clean the priority cartridge first and see what that does. Hadn't thought of additives.

EDIT ...You were typing same time as me. Not sure the reason but at least one poster removed priority/proportioning valve and found debris hang it up.

Not sure the pics below will open....so PM sent, I have the plumbing diagram for steering/fan/priority valve.
The valve is mounted in the driver's side frame rail, just in front of the rear wheels

We found and removed both valves, cleaned, replaced one O ring on flo valve. Still squealing. Ordered rebuilt pump , no new ones available. Now trying to find information on how to remove and install new one, torque specs, etc.
