Air Bags pressure fluctuates while driving

1998 American Eagle, while driving on surface streets my air pressure is dropping to 95psi,then all of a sudden it pumps right back up to 115/120. When the pressure drops the rig SLAMS Hard up front. Spartan chasis model MM -2242 /
I have tried keeping the rpm at 1,800 + around town but it doesn't seem to help. Just checked air pressure gauge after sitting for 24 hours and its at 95 so I'm not loosing much at rest
Thanks for the help

Maybe one of your ride height valves are bad causing excessive leakage while driving.

Welcome to the forum.

I was going to bet on a leak but if you're holding air while idle....

I'd sure get it fixed soon though. You don't want anything slamming hard due to low air.

Good luck. We're glad you found us.

Both; F & R air gauges will drop as you use the brakes , you are using air every brake application. The compressor starts to rebuild pressure at 95 then unloads at 120 . If you feel the front air suspension is suffering from being at the lower pressure, you need to get a complete air diagram for your coach and see if the air supply for the suspension has a one way check valve; to maintain 120 psi in the suspension while the air in the tanks fluctuates with the use of the air brakes. Or as TRAILERKING, has mentioned excessive air pressure loss through a ride height valve.

Tom,

A few possible things could be happening.
1. As TrailerKing said, you could have a Ride Height adjustment valve problem. Leaking or bad.
2. You could have a leak at one of the front wheels. Remember that the compressor could be keeping up when the suspension is "working" hard as when on a highway and not able to keep up when bouncing on city streets.
3. Your Desiccant filter could be bad and could be restricting air into the tanks.

If you call Spartan with your VIN number, they can generally send you a diagram of your air system. I have one for my Travel Supreme that they sent me.
Also, the Leveling System is connected to the air system, so don't rule that out either for leaks. I have some documentation I put together about the air system on my Spartan Chassis (Mountainmaster). If you want it, send me an email (or pm) with your email and I'd be happy to provide you with what I've got.

Thanks for the advice, very appreciated.
So I fixed temp fixed it. It turned out to be a bad ride hieght adjuster, it looks like the part that the rod runs through is made of rubber?, well it failed so it would slide up and down on the shaft as I drove, constantly changing the ride hieght....used a couple of zip ties and it works great, will order a new part when I get back to Prescott Az

I bought spares when I was at Spartan in 2004, have never needed them but at least I've got them on hand.

You can buy the ride height valves at CarQuest. They use a different part # So does Spartan and Newmar., but they are all the same. About $75.
