Thumbs up Engine struggling to start

Hi all you RV,s across the pond,I have a 94 gulf stream sun voyager,6.5td v8,Got plenty of power in starter batteries, fuel pump from tank working okay.I was wondering if it could be fuel filter or air filter being blocked, when it starts runs sweet.I come home from where i was working no problem climbing up and down hills without a gliche.I have 150watt solar panel on roof linked into leisure batteries and engine batts, plus its got a Stirling bat to bat charger on,so there is plenty of power.I thought it might be a glow plug down.So i thought i would give you fellow rv,s a shout. To see if you had any idea. All the best, from across the pond,The Cat,aka Phil.

The fuel filter could be the issue, one glow plug being out wouldn't stop the other cylinders from firing and the burnt plug cylinder would soon join in as the engine RPM comes up. Glow plugs are easy to check, a test light or meter will show if it's working or not.

New fuel filters would be a good place to start. You should fill the filters with fuel before reinstalling them so there will not be much air in the system. Mine has two. I had algea come loose in my fuel tank and get in the filters.
Another thought is the fuel tank vent can get clogged. I heard of folks remove the fuel cap and having a large vacuum.
It must be really fun to drive the big bus over there and cars seem to be smaller.
good luck. cheers. Bill
