Re: Tires; though at 4 years old they should not yet need replacement, They may have been mounted as much as a year before you bought them and FIVE years is. in fact, the recommended change interval.. So that may "Soften" the blow a bit,

As for the engine issues (Coolant in the oil) Pray for warranty, in fact on a 4 year coach your "Other rights which vary from state to state" may apply.. Michigan has a fairly decent Consumer Protection act.. But understanding it in detail is a touch above my pay grade as they say so I can not advise you save to "Check it out".

My Brother used to live in Charlotte and worked for Charlotte Chair.. He drove Semi, delivering product all over the US, He even took one load almost to Hawaii, Offered to go all the way but they would not pay to haul the truck back

wa8yxm:

Yup, see my post #13 above. Cummins warranty DID cover oil cooler (inter-cooler) replacement.

Chickadee, one question for you. Where the cracks on the "sunny" side of the tires, the inner side, or both?

I would expect sunny side, since the inner duals were not effected. Definitely seems sun related to me. We always put tire covers on when parked for an extended period in a sunny location.

Terry & Joe (Brigadoon & Flying Diver):

Yup, you're right,...cracks were on outside (sunnyside) sidewall of these tires, not inside surface and not tags.

So, Joe,....what kind of cover system do you use?? Hate to drill/mount clips and/or snaps on exterior, and not confident those slide track types would stay useable for long since tracks clog up, AND... sure haven't liked the idea of crawling in the mud, dirt or wet grass to fuss with bungee cord connections for the cover that slips over each tire. Guess we gotta pick one or another though.

Thanks for any suggestions.

We have the MCD track system ones. Never had any problem with stuff in the tracks, and they include a little tool that you slide through the tracks to clear them if you need to.

I have the bungee's on the covers we have but never used them and have never had one blow off from the wind. To me they fit pretty snug on the tire and if your right there with the moho when your camping you can keep an eye on them when it's windy.

I second FlyingDiver, I have had the MCD covers for five years now and never experienced a clogged condition. It's nice that they never touch the tire but hang in front of it. They slide on and off very easily. The ends of the beads that go in the track started to tear slightly after five years and MCD took them and sewed in all new beading at no cost to me and returned them. That's great customer service in this day and age.

Another positive on the MCD covers. We have had ours for 5 years as well. I can't remember ever having to clean the tracks or having any problems with them. The install / removal time for me is less than 5 minutes.

We are finally having our tires replaced with Michelin XZA2 Energy 315's in Delaware. They have a June 2004 code those covers kept them looking pretty good.

So....with regards to tire covers, .....sounds like the MCD's might do. So, if we pull in to Mckinney, TX, would MCD install em on our coach???...or can ya pretty much trust MDC satellite dealers around the country to do a good job???

Newmar installed ours, but I expect MCD would do it as well. Not that hard to do, actually, since it's just screwing the tracks into place in the wheel well rims.
But if you're going anywhere near Dallas, I'd try MCD first.

Steve,
I installed ours and it was an easy job taking a couple of hours at most. But the dealers should be able to install them. Just make sure they have them ordered for your RV model and year before you get there....they are custom to the RV.

MCD will sure do it, at a reasonable price, the problem is they are so successful that you have to get an appointment with quite a bit of lead time because they stay booked up AND if you are getting any blinds they will have to measure, then build them then install them, about a week for a whole coach build and installation. just our experience,, AND we LOVE our MCD power remote blinds.

We have a set made by Magna Shade. Magnets hold them in place. No snaps, no bungee cords, no crawling in the mud. Expensive, but so very easy to use, once the magnets are installed (on the back side of the 'fender', they are not visable).
