Junior Module

Has anybody replaced this module on their Spartan chassis? It’s the module with the A and B ports with the air lines coming from it. From what I’m told, it’s the data converter for the dash air gauges. Trying to avoid any issues while changing this module.

I have no experience with this module, if you don't mind me asking, what are you experiencing? I also am having guage issues.

After greasing the chassis I went to reset my trip odometer back to zero so that I can watch the miles for the next time I need to grease the chassis. I grease on or around every 5K miles, anyways I decide to go and look to see if I had any fault codes and noticed the ones below. There was no CEL lights on, just the fault codes.

MID 178 data converter PID 117 FMI 1
MID 178 data converter PID 118 FMI 1

I called Spartan and was told that the codes are related to the “junior module” which is related to the dash gauges working or not. The module converts data from air pressure to allow the gauges to work. Spartan told me to check for power and if I had power to just change the module.

Last time I drove the coach I don’t remember if the gauges were working, but I do know that if they weren’t working I would have noticed it. When it warms up I’m going to check out this module.

Your information was helpful as I was getting the same codes. I am not shure there is a problem because the engine wasn't running so no air available. I know my gages were working before and I will go start it and see if the code clears. but it will be a couple of days.

Just an update - I fired up the coach the other day and watched the fault codes as the coach aired up. Both air gauges were working fine and showing a steady increase in air. Once the gauges showed around or greater than 65psi I noticed that the fault codes cleared. The coach continued to increase in air pressure and eventually blew off. No fault codes were showing prior to shutting it down.

When the weather gets better I’ll be crawling under the coach to check out the module. Hopefully it was just a glitch in power prior to arriving at our current destination. Time will tell.

Paul, thanks for the update. Do you have your generator on a slide? you might be able to see it on the side like in the picture.
